TERMS & CONDITIONS
Below you'll find the terms and conditions which accompany your visit to our website, and how you can use (and reuse) the content on our site.
Last updated: 30 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Oil Tank Pro website.
Oil Tank Pro is independently written and published by JSA Consulting trading as Applied Marketing Management, hereinafter referred to as 'AMM'.
By using this website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions.
1. Purpose of Oil Tank Pro
Oil Tank Pro is an independent information resource providing general information about heating oil storage tanks, associated equipment, installation considerations, maintenance and related subjects.
The information published on Oil Tank Pro is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.
It is not intended to constitute engineering, technical, installation, building-control, environmental, legal or other professional advice.
Nothing published on Oil Tank Pro should be treated as a specification, installation instruction or recommendation that any particular product, installation method or arrangement is suitable for a particular property or location.
2. Important safety notice
Heating oil tanks and their associated equipment are not DIY products.
The installation, replacement, relocation, alteration, inspection, maintenance or repair of an oil storage installation can involve significant risks, including fire, pollution, environmental damage, property damage and personal injury.
Information, illustrations, diagrams, measurements, photographs or examples appearing on Oil Tank Pro must not be used as a substitute for an assessment by an appropriately trained and competent person.
You should not install, replace, move, modify, connect, disconnect, repair or otherwise alter an oil tank, its base, pipework, valves, filters, fire-protection arrangements or associated equipment solely on the basis of information obtained from Oil Tank Pro.
Users should obtain appropriate professional advice before undertaking or commissioning work to an oil storage installation.
Where appropriate, AMM strongly recommends using an OFTEC or APHC registered technician, or another suitably qualified and competent professional appropriate to the work and jurisdiction concerned.
3. Site-specific requirements
Every property and oil storage installation is different.
Requirements may depend upon factors including, but not limited to:
- tank capacity and construction;
- tank location;
- nearby buildings and structures;
- doors and windows;
- boundaries and fencing;
- vegetation;
- drains, watercourses and groundwater;
- fire risks;
- tank bases and supports;
- oil supply pipework;
- environmental sensitivity;
- local planning requirements;
- building regulations;
- regional and national legislation; and
- requirements imposed by insurers, regulators, manufacturers or other bodies.
A diagram, photograph or example shown on Oil Tank Pro should therefore never be assumed to demonstrate that the same arrangement is safe, suitable or legally compliant at another property.
4. Regulations and technical information
Oil Tank Pro seeks to provide useful and accurate information. However, regulations, technical standards, manufacturer requirements, industry guidance and recognised good practice may change.
They may also differ between England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and other jurisdictions.
Although reasonable efforts may be made to keep information accurate and up to date, AMM does not warrant or guarantee that every article, measurement, diagram, specification, regulation, external reference or other item of information is complete, accurate or current at the time you read it.
Users are responsible for checking current requirements with the relevant competent professional, regulator, manufacturer or authority before acting upon information contained on the website.
5. Diagrams, photographs and illustrations
Diagrams, drawings, photographs, computer-generated images and other illustrations published on Oil Tank Pro are provided primarily to explain general principles.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, they should not be regarded as technical drawings, construction drawings, installation instructions or scale drawings.
Apparent dimensions, distances, positions, proportions or configurations shown in an illustration should not be relied upon for the design or installation of an oil storage system.
Where measurements or separation distances are stated, users should verify that those requirements remain current and applicable to their particular property and jurisdiction before relying upon them.
6. Product information
References to manufacturers, products, materials or equipment are provided for general information.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, inclusion of a product or manufacturer does not constitute an endorsement, guarantee or representation that the product is appropriate for a particular application.
Product specifications may change without notice. Users should therefore check current information directly with the relevant manufacturer or supplier before purchasing, specifying or installing equipment.
7. Professional advice takes precedence
Where information published on Oil Tank Pro differs from advice provided by a suitably qualified professional who has inspected a particular installation or property, users should seek clarification from that professional rather than simply relying upon the website.
Site-specific professional assessment, applicable legislation, current regulatory requirements and manufacturer instructions should take precedence over general information published on Oil Tank Pro.
8. Responsibility of the user
You are responsible for how you use information obtained from Oil Tank Pro.
In particular, you agree that you will not treat information on the website as authorisation or instruction to undertake work for which professional competence, certification, approval or site-specific assessment is required.
Before acting upon information that could affect safety, property, the environment or regulatory compliance, you should obtain appropriate professional advice and verify the applicable requirements.
9. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable law prohibits such exclusion.
Subject to the foregoing, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, AMM shall not be liable for loss or damage arising from or connected with:
- reliance upon general information published on Oil Tank Pro without obtaining appropriate site-specific professional advice;
- work undertaken by a user or third party on the basis of information obtained from the website;
- incorrect installation, alteration, maintenance, repair or use of an oil tank or associated equipment;
- failure to comply with legislation, regulations, technical standards, manufacturer instructions or professional advice;
- information which has subsequently become outdated because of changes to regulations, standards, products or recognised good practice;
- errors, omissions or inaccuracies in third-party information;
- interruption or unavailability of the website; or
- the content or operation of any third-party website to which Oil Tank Pro provides a link, except to the extent that such liability cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Where permitted by law, AMM excludes liability for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of data and other economic loss arising from use of, or reliance upon, the website.
10. No professional relationship
Use of Oil Tank Pro, including contacting AMM with a question or comment, does not create an engineer-client, installer-client, consultant-client, adviser-client or other professional relationship.
Any response provided to an enquiry is general information unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
11. Third-party links
Oil Tank Pro may contain links to third-party websites, organisations, manufacturers, installers or other resources. Such links are provided for information and convenience only.
AMM does not control third-party websites and does not accept responsibility for their content, availability, accuracy, security, products, services or practices.
The inclusion of a link does not necessarily constitute endorsement of the linked organisation, website, product or service.
12. Registered installers and third parties
Any reference or link to an installer, technician, manufacturer, supplier or professional organisation does not constitute a guarantee by AMM of that person's or organisation's competence, workmanship, products or services.
Users are responsible for satisfying themselves that anyone they engage is appropriately competent, qualified, registered and insured for the work concerned.
13. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the written content, original illustrations, graphics, photographs, branding and other original material published on Oil Tank Pro are owned by or licensed to AMM and are protected by applicable intellectual property law.
Content may be viewed and printed for personal, non-commercial reference.
No substantial part of the website may be copied, reproduced, republished, distributed, commercially exploited or incorporated into another website or publication without prior written permission from AMM, except where permitted by law.
14. Prohibited use
You must not:
- use Oil Tank Pro for unlawful purposes;
- attempt to interfere with the operation or security of the website;
- introduce malicious software or code;
- systematically scrape, harvest or reproduce website content without permission; or
- misrepresent Oil Tank Pro content as professional advice, an installation specification or official regulatory guidance.
15. Availability of the website
We do not guarantee that Oil Tank Pro, or any particular content on it, will always be available.
We may modify, remove, suspend or discontinue any part of the website without notice.
16. Changes to these Terms
AMM may revise these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The current version will be published on this page together with the date of its most recent revision.
Continued use of the website following publication of revised terms constitutes acceptance of those terms to the extent permitted by law.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall, so far as possible, be treated separately without affecting the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
18. No waiver
Failure by AMM to exercise or enforce any right under these Terms & Conditions does not constitute a waiver of that right.
19. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions and any dispute arising in connection with Oil Tank Pro shall be governed by the laws of Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, subject to any mandatory rights that applicable law gives a user in another jurisdiction.
The courts of Northern Ireland shall have jurisdiction in relation to disputes arising from use of the website, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
